  • 10:30 am Parent Meeting /Player ✅/ Warm up
  • 10:45 am - 12:45 Tryout

The player should arrive 15-20 minutes to check in, receive a numbered pinnie, and to be sized for a uniform.

NEW FOR TRAVEL: In accordance with MYAS guidelines, all players MUST bring a printout of their Skyward face sheet for the current school year, showing their home address and school of attendance.  If not a Wayzata student, then a comparable current school issued form.  Players will NOT be placed on a team unless this information is received prior to the end of their grade's tryouts.

All players should wear shorts, t-shirts and basketball shoes. Players should not wear uniforms from previous years or t-shirts with their names on them. There will be an area to warm up prior to each session.

Tryouts are closed to parents and all adults except for the evaluators; spectators are a distraction to them and to the kids. WBBA thanks you for your cooperation with this policy.

Player Evaluation

Evaluators will score your son based on how he performs in individual skills, drills and team scrimmage situations. Players will participate in a set of drills (ball-handling, shooting, etc) designed to assess their skill level as well 3-on-3 play. They will also divide into groups for 5-on-5 scrimmaging, allowing the evaluators to view players in a game-like setting.

Players will be assessed on numerous factors, including ball-handling, court vision, decision- making, shooting/scoring, off the ball movement, defense, and rebounding. Intangibles like effort and attitude will also be assessed.

Scholarships

Deadline to request a scholarship is February 17, 2023. For more details on our scholarship program, please click here: Scholarship Details.

Program Commitment

The WBBA travel basketball program requires a full commitment from travel players and their parents. Parents should make every effort to ensure players attend every practice and game. Please carefully consider this commitment.

Playing Time Policy

The WBBA has established the playing time policy for all travel program players to be an average minimum of 40% per game. The 40% playing time policy may vary depending on players’ understanding of the game, attentiveness during practice, attendance and disciplinary issues.

Team Pages

Team Pages are made available on the website.  Team schedules will be posted on each team’s page.  These pages may be updated regularly by a Team Parent or Coach.  Instructions are available on the website under the Info For Team Page Tab and further help is provided by emailing info@wayzatabasketball.org.

Rules for Travel Teams

Rules are set by each tournament host community, but otherwise follow Minnesota State High School Rules. The Minnesota State High School League (MSHSL) uses rule books published by the National Federation of State High School Associations. Visit www.nfhs.org for more information.
